Mount Barker & Lake Nunijup & Boyup Brook

Writer's picture: Gail & Rob SmithGail & Rob Smith

After leaving Bremer Bay we toured via Albany to shop and fill gas bottle. Weather cold and miserable so started heading inland for Boyup Brook. Overnighted at another great pub stay with a free camp right opposite and right in the town of Mount Barker. A lovely country town. Hadn't eaten out for a while so pub meal was on the cards.

great meals

Weather brightened up so headed for a few days to Lake Nunijup, only about 30 ks north of Mount Barker. A lovely lake with bush surrounds. 3 other campers here, very peaceful until the next day and it became windy, rainy and bloody cold. Would have liked to have got the kayak on the lake but that wasn't going to happen thanks to the weather.

Next stop was Jen & Baz's(our travel buddies) property at Boyup Brook. A magnificent 100 acres situated on the Blackwood River. Parked up next to their van with fantastic views to the river. Lots of bird life on river and in the trees and just so peaceful and relaxing.
